I tried my gradient nails again!
I love Red and Yellow together!
so here we go.
Yellow Base: Australis Rub-a-dub-dub
Red Tip: Revlon Revlon Red
White Konad Special Polish flower
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Mega Shine
So I wanted to try a block nail with a bit of a difference, and that is how I ended up with half leopard nails.
I decided to use a bluely colour scheme (although the base is actually purple)
Enjoy
Base: Australis Peek-a-Boo
Blue Konad special polish
Half colour: Revlon Midnight Affair
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Mega Shine
Super Duper Cute!
Penguin's are my second favourite animal.
so I had to tribute them on my nails...
It was actually super easy, and I love them!
I just made the design up (based on a few I'd seen on instagram) and I need a little more practice to perfect the precision of the eyes and beak.
(the blue blobs were meant to be snowflakes)
I think I'd just do them all penguin's next time.
Penguin's
White Base: Revlon White on White
Black Body: Australis Black mail
Yellow: Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow
Orange: OPI A Roll in the Hague
Snowflake nails
Silver Base: Mabeline Marshmallow
Pale blue: Art Deco Sky Blue
Dark Blue: Australis Sky's the limit
and after the epic beading fail I thought something easy and simple would be nice.
I actually had trouble applying these ones (again)
see the yucky creases in the corners, I think the design is not great as it doesn't cater to the curve of a nail.
Overall the only positive is the shine
These foils make it look like I am a 5 year old who found her big sisters sticker box or Duracell collection (the stuff you use to cover school books)
The finished result was creases ALL OVER, and I kind of had to wrap the ends over the tips of my finger nails a little.
Not a pretty look...
However in saying that I am keen to try them in patches or smaller pieces, like if I was doing a painted manicure with a gold strip or square...
Forgive me for this monstrosity.
I thought I would show you what happens when I get it wrong.
So we know I was giving nail art with beads a try, and I went horribly horribly over the top.
I removed these as fast as I could.
Today I thought I'd try something new..
I had seen these cool nails at
The Nailasaurus where she had used all these little studs on her nails.
As I don't own any little studs - but I do have heaps of little beads I thought I would try with beaded nails...
I'm not too sure on the overall look.

After leaving the beads on for a little over an hour before I started picking them off while watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch
I decided to pick them all off and paint a simple black stripe.
I think I like these way more, and will probably try a similar blocking design again.
Because I'd spent so long on my funky coloured manicure I decided to plan my outfit accordingly.
Pink and Orange I love those colours together
I kept it pretty casual with worn jeans and cute french plaits.
Cardigan: Glassons Orange Knit
Under top: Glassons black long-sleeve top
Jeans: Rusty ripped look grey skinny jean
Shoes: Havaianas
Scarf: Pink and grey spots (freebie from Women's Expo)
Nails: Epic Marble creation
So I thought today I could give marble nails a try...
from reading various different bloggers I thought I better try out some of my nail polishes and see if I could master the marbling skill.
Here are four thumb nails I tried (and removed)
The pink one looks best - It was slightly watery/thinly coated though...
(also creepily the black one looks like a long old fashioned face painting...)
I have discovered that:
1) the water temperature is important - too cold and the nail polish sets FAST as
2) Thick or globby nail polish does NOT work. (the black one was very thick - which is usually good for normal nail painting, but it didn't spread in the water - but also the water was cold...)
3) sheer/shimmery nail polish does not show up well
full stop. The greeny one has actually two other blue tones which were very shimmery, all that showed up was a slight shimmer (but no actual colour)
The best nail polishes that worked were my revlon ones (I love revlon!)
See how well this manicure turned out!
Lovely colours together!!
This worked so much better than I hoped! (except the slightly bubbly pinky finger...)
another day of uni-break, another day of nail art fun.
Today is stripy!
I actually was thinking of doing Tribal Nails which I had seen lots of online, but my attempts were not very good.
In the end I liked how the plain stripes looked - however I wish they were straighter lines.
I can only improve right?
Base colour: Mabeline Marshmallow (silvery colour)
Black: Art Deco Black
Yellow: Art Deco Hi-Lite
Pale Blue: Art Deco Sky Blue
Green: Art Deco Quirky Turquoise
Pale Pink: Art Deco Baby Pink
So as it's now uni holiday's I have a lot more time on my hands.
accordingly I have a lot of nail polish designs to try out.
These are some I saw online - the ones I saw looked way better as the dots were all in line, and the same shape/size.
(but hey, I'll keep working on it)
white base: Revlon White on White
Black Base: Australis Blackmail
Black spots: Art Deco black
White spots: Revlon White on White (with a cotton bud stick)
Matt top coat (On Thumb and Middle finger): Elf
Glossy Top Coat (Index, Ring and Pinky fingers): Sally Hansen
So I did mention earlier my new matt top-coat... I gave it another try.
(not so keen on it this time)
I also bought four new nail polishes recently.
(this is two of them)
in some funky random shapes!
I do really like the colours together - just not so sure about the Matt(ness)
Green: Elf bought from Bling
Purple: Australis Peek-a-boo
I just found a matte topcoat, which I had been looking for for a while.
I decided to have a bit of fun comparing the matt finish to a shiny one, so created this manicure with a dark shimmery purple.
I painted my nails completely purple
then applied matte top-coat
then painted the tips of my nails again with the purple
Overall I quite like the look!
Purple: Elf Purchased from Bling
Matte Top-Coat: Elf
I decided to paint my nails with the epic green colour I bought recently!
I then got a bit bored later on and was playing around with some black stripes...
(I was originally just going to do boring parallel stripes on an angle all over the nail) but then I decided the brush stroke actually looks really cool and kind of grass like...
so then I decided to add a few more green tones.
and created this.
I put my matt finish top coat on the ring finger
(I don't think it looks as cool as glossy finish)
so I painted a glossy top coat over it.
and here is my final result!
I just found some photos of a cute manicure I did a while ago.
I was trying out all my pale colours together, I think they look quite sweet.
(excuse the very short nails- I was in a biting stage)
Thumb: Revlon White on White
Index: Australis Sweetpea
Middle: OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender
Ring: Australis Rub-a-dub-dub
Pinky: Revlon Peach Petal
Today I sat my final exam! (yay!)
Yes, on a Saturday (bummer!)
I decided comfort is best when sitting for 3 hours, and I wanted to be warm, because you never know with those lecture halls.
This is my (hopefully passing) exam outfit!
(I have a long sleeve merino underneath!)
Dress: French Connection (Newly purchased on my Sydney Shopping trip)
Cardi: Glassons Red Stripped
Leggings: Glassons Thick, black and warm!
Boots: Hannahs Fur lined (so warm!)
And, I think I did pretty OK in my exam guys!
Life gets pretty boring when I have exams...
I become a bit of a hermit and care (slightly) less about my appearance - as I am usually not going out anywhere...
Today I opted for a simple, comfortable warm outfit.
Top: French Connection loose fit black long sleeve top (with warm merino underneath!)
Jeans: Forever New (my favourite motorcycle jeans!)
Boots: Hannahs fur lined
Scarf: unknown shop But is super pretty and sparkly!
Today I was so comfortable I don't know if it qualifies as a mentionable outfit.
For a long time I have been going on-and-on-and-on-and-on-and-on about wanting a nice, presentable, comfortable dress (to replace my very old, very worn out, easy to throw on dress) MyLove will testify to this.
When shopping in Sydney I found it!
it's a super cute bright orange, ruffle, wrap dress -
when I tried it on it looked a bit clingy, but I loved it, and it was on sale - so I bought it!
I wore it again today (with a different singlet underneath) and it is just perfect!
it's so easy to wear (one of those - I'm-in-a-hurry-and-don't-have-time-to-work-on-my-outfit type dresses)
Today I teamed it with pretty plain black tights and cardi, and my new brightly coloured across-body bag!
love the colourful, comfortable outfit!
Dress: Review (purchased at the outlet store in Sydney)
Bag: Faux Prada (purchased at a market in Sydney) - I just REALLY loved the colours!
Shoes: Briarwood (New Zealand leather designer)
Cardi: Glassons
White Singlet: Glassons
Tights: Farmers
Yesterday I spent about 7 hours shopping!!!!
It's interesting that I can walk around shops for HOURS but if you ever asked me to exercise for that long I would die!
Well some of the highlights of my shop were
French Connection when I found a cute dress for myself! And was actually served by someone who I had met at a party in my home town about a year before!
I also enjoyed
Review and
Forcast where I ended up purchasing a 2 dresses, a blouse, and 2 jackets, respectively.
I was a little bit let down by
Sportsgirl, Forever New and
Bardot as they had nothing I really wanted! (or that suited me)
I tried to take a picture of my new clothes to show you...
Not to decide what to wear on the plan (so that it doesn't take up space in my bag)
These are the nails I painted prior to flying to Sydney. Sorry that I'm posting them late!!! I ended up painting each nail the bright colour and sponging black on top. On the first hand I did (my left hand) i sponged it on (which took a LONG time to get it dark enough) in the end I pare-painted the coloured tips and smudged this, it was much easier!!! I then tried it for the other hand - which wasn't as easy as I was expecting... I ended up paint the bottom half black (with the polish brush) then once that was relatively dry I did a stripe of black near a stripe of colour and used the sponge to blend these... It ended up with a smoother smudge resutl- not just a spotty (obviously black sponged on after) Enjoy the picture of my final result.

Agirlwithsomeclothes is in Sydney!
So after picking at my nails on the plane over I decided I better remove the nail polish - and start again... My lovely sister let me raid her nail polishes and I've just found a colour I must BUY!
Today's nails look like this...
Revlon: Gold Coin
and Revlon: Rock Star (purple)
